Which Types of Anabolic Steroids are Good? Which are Bad?
One of the various synthetic form of testosterone is the base used to develop every type of anabolic steroid. There are medical reason for the administration of steroids. However, most athletes find them useful for losing body fat and increasing muscle mass. Athletes also like the fact that using steroids increases endurance and gives their strength a boost. The chemical formulation of the steroid controls the effect it produces. There is a great variety of these steroids to choose from. People who use these steroids cannot escape the "androgenic effect." This androgen, testosterone, which is used in the steroids, is the hormone that controls the development of the characteristics of males. You will often see this steroid class called, Anabolic – Androgenic Steroids, or AAS. Here is more information on a sampling of these steroids.
An anabolic steroid that has the same effect as testosterone – fat loss and enhanced muscle mass – is Sustanon. The "street" description of how this steroid acts on the body is simple – it allows the muscle mass to absorb more protein. Protein, as is commonly know, is the main "food" of the muscle mass. The muscles of body builders are not the same composition as normal muscle. If you’ve observed this difference you may of wondered why. Here’s the reason. Sustanon, and other steroids, cause an increase in the amount of muscle fibers in the muscle mass. Not only will the muscle mass appear larger, the actual muscles will look different. There are other effects that are desired such as increasing the red blood cell count which will help with recovery and endurance to some degree.
Some people become confused about Androstenedione, so we will discuss it here. It’s an androgenic steroid that is often mistaken for an anabolic steroid. Investigations into the effects of Andro (Androstenedione) in the past indicate that the fat loss and muscle building properties of this steroid are slight. That there is nothing to be gained by the use of Andro by performance athletes or bodybuilders is the consensus of opinion derived by past years of scientific study of this steroid. Nonetheless, Andro, which is freely available, has metabolic by-products that become estrogenic when it is used. A male user of Andro must take this drug in an amount sufficient to cause an estrogenic effect before this will become a problem.
We know that anabolic steroids, also known as anabolic-androgeni steroids (AAS) have androgen effect. There are several different locations in the body where androgenic characteristics can surface. The more an athlete or other person knows about the androgenic results that they could experience with a specific anabolic steroid, the better able they will be to choose the right configuration.
One result of using steroids with an androgenic component is the consequences they can cause to the male reproductive system, as well as their ability to intensify male characteristics. This type of steroid can be seen in a medical environment for treating various diseases. The variety of conditions in which this steroid is used include testosterone deficiencies, red blood cell production in different conditions and breast cancer treatment. The term, "anabolic" is an adjective that means it’s characteristics promote "creative metabolism" – in other words, muscle enhancement.
There are anabolic and other classes of steroids that have been labeled "non-therapeutic" as a result of years of research and study. When a steroid fell into this category – no therapeutic use – it was banned from being manufactured and used.
Nevertheless, exhibition and model bodybuilders, for example, can still get advantageous results from the use of these steroids. Our knowledge of the adverse effects of these steroids fall into two categories – well-documented or fragmentary. From time to time it will become apparent that it is no longer plausible, or even worth the time and trouble, to continue to waste time doing research on steroids that are not widely available.
