They use the NW and NC codes as a way to neutralize the undertones, therefore, if you’re a warm tone they suggest NC and if you’re a cool tone NW, this is done to open up your possible colors and allows you more choice in connection with wearbility.

My skin tone matches silver but NC or “cool” foundations look pale and ghost like on my skin. Everyone’s different; you shouldn’t have a piece of paper or cloth determine what foundation you shoud use.

A much easier solution: stare a piece of plain white paper for 5 seconds. Then look at your inner arm. If you see blue then you’re cool, if yellow then you’re warm.
